Intensive Outpatient Detox
Detoxify your body & ease withdrawal symptoms with NAD+ therapy.
INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT DETOX PROGRAM
The Intensive Outpatient Detox Program is a medically supervised, customized detoxification program, using NAD+ Therapy, that allows patients to reside in their homes during treatment.
Treatments typically last between three and 15 days, and require patients to spend the entire day in our clinic.
The comprehensive and flexible approach of this treatment addresses the unique needs of each individual while providing ongoing support and skill development. Its balance of structure, accountability, and community involvement makes it a valuable option for those seeking to achieve and maintain sobriety.
We offer a flexible treatment schedule that allows individuals to receive comprehensive care while maintaining their daily responsibilities. This is particularly beneficial for those who cannot commit to a residential or inpatient program due to work, family, or other obligations. It ensures accessibility to treatment for a wider range of people.
We offer individualized treatment plans tailored to each participant's unique needs. This personalized approach ensures that individuals receive the specific therapies and interventions necessary for their recovery journey, addressing not only the addiction but also any underlying mental health issues.
Regular attendance and participation in this program helps individuals remain accountable for their recovery goals. Knowing that they have ongoing support and expectations to meet can encourage commitment to the process.
This is a structured treatment environment with regular sessions, which can include individual therapy, group therapy, and educational workshops. This structured approach helps individuals establish a routine and provides consistent support during early recovery, reducing the risk of relapse.
Group therapy is a significant component of this program, allowing participants to connect with others who are also working toward recovery. This sense of community and peer support can be a powerful motivator and source of encouragement during challenging times.
Compared to inpatient treatment, this intensive outpatient program tends to be more cost-effective. This affordability can make it a feasible option for individuals with limited financial resources or insurance coverage.
This program is designed to serve as a transition between more intensive forms of treatment (such as inpatient rehab) and independent living in recovery. This continuity of care helps individuals gradually adapt to life outside of treatment while still receiving essential support.
We focus on teaching essential life skills, coping mechanisms, and relapse prevention strategies. Participants learn how to navigate triggers, manage stress, and make healthier choices, which are crucial for long-term recovery success.
In this program, family therapy or support sessions are available, which can help repair relationships damaged by addiction and educate loved ones about how they can contribute to the recovery process.
All About NAD+ Therapy
What is NAD+?
NAD+ ( Nicotinamide Riboside Dinucleotide) has been used successfully for acute detoxification since the 1950s, since Springfield Wellness Center brought attention to the success of IV NAD+ for detoxification. Over the last 15 years, it has since grown exponentially in popularity for both drug treatment and wellness indications. NAD + was used in South Africa and Mexico for years and gained a following for its impressive results in assisting in detox for alcohol and opiates, but NAD was eclipsed in this country when methadone was promoted in the 1970s. Located in Arroyo Grande, CA, Ken Starr MD was one of the early physicians who trained In Springfield and brought NAD+ to California in 2014. Since then, the clinic has become the longest-running NAD+ clinic on the West Coast and has successfully detoxed hundreds of patients off opiates, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and antidepressants. NAD Infusions are popular worldwide. The infusions are promoted for wellness, longevity, and offering mental clarity. The Ken Starr MD Wellness Group has administered NAD infusions for general wellness indications like dementia, fatigue, chronic stress, and brain fog, as well as substance abuse and dependence.
How do NAD+ treatments work?
NAD+ infusions may significantly reduce and ease the severity of withdrawal while offering support in the restoration of brain chemistry, hence the name “Brain Restoration” BR+ ™. The Ken Starr MD Wellness Group is a certified and accredited provider of BR+ ™. The brain has to detox to heal. NAD infusions seem to reduce the symptoms of acute withdrawal, relieve cravings, and simply help people feel better a lot faster. NAD+ infusions are slow and generally take all day depending on the dose. Although some people can get through the infusions faster, we’ve found a better response with slower infusion rates. Infusions vary in length from 3-10 days or even longer depending on the patient and the substance. Alcohol patients benefit from 3-5 days of treatment. NAD may reduce alcohol withdrawal symptoms and reduces cravings and relapse. Due to the metabolism of alcohol, all alcohol patients have a significant NAD deficiency. Opiate patients (heroin, fentanyl, Norco, oxy) need at least 10 days of therapy. It takes a week to start to turn the corner and longer to get our patients feeling more restored and hopeful. Patients may feel calm and have less cravings for opiates after the treatment.
What happens in the body when NAD+ is used?
NAD or Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide is a simple metabolic coenzyme of Niacin. Niacin is a B Vitamin that is involved in energy production in every mitochondria of your body. It has been used since the 1930s to help people detox off of alcohol, opiates, stimulants, and tranquilizers. More recently it has shown to be effective in treating depression, anxiety and PTSD. We know people afflicted with drug and alcohol abuse have a NAD deficiency state. For example, for every molecule of alcohol metabolized we use double that amount of NAD+ converting it to NADH. A low NAD/NADH ratio is associated with a craving for drugs and alcohol. Lower levels of cellular energy occur as a result of decreasing NAD levels both as we age and from any oxidative stress or substance use. Mitochondrial dysfunction results from a low fuel supply of NAD. This dysfunction propagates drug cravings and withdrawal. The infusion of NAD significantly decreases any withdrawal symptoms and fosters a sense of well being. Dopamine neurons within the mesocorticolimbic circuit (reward circuit) appear to be restored and normalized. By the end of the infusion, patients are no longer in withdrawal and report no craving or desire to use. Additionally, we offer a nasal spray formulation of NAD and oral nicotinamide riboside. Both of which are very effective.
Brain Restoration Therapy with NAD+
Brain Restoration Therapy is our 10 day process to eliminate cravings and withdrawal. This is an intensive outpatient detox program where patients receive a daily intravenous infusion of medications that reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Healthy brain chemistry is gradually restored. Mood, memory, and concentration all improve while patients detoxify and slowly heal. We use NAD to assist in this detox process but also use other medications as medically necessary. Dr. Ken Starr and our office RN supervise this process. A typical course of treatment lasts 5-15 days.
Although we and others believe NAD is an effective and lasting treatment for addiction to drugs and alcohol, it has not been studied by the FDA and is not an FDA-approved treatment.
